چکیده
Anticholinergics Anticholinergics are competitive antagonists of acetylcholine at post ganglionic parasympathetic muscurinic receptors. Stimulation of muscurinic receptors induces salivation, pupillary constriction, bronchoconstriction, gastric acid secretion, gastrointestinal motility, and slowing of the heart rate. The two most commonly used anticholinergics in veterinary medicine are atropine and glycopyrrolate (Table 1). These two drugs differ in their duration of action, with the effects of glycopyrrolate lasting at least twice as long as atropine. Furthermore, glycopyrrolate does not cross the intact blood brain barrier or the placenta. Anticholinergics increase myocardial oxygen consumption by increasing heart rate. and can precipitate cardiac arrhythmias and decrease the threshold for ventricular fibrillation. For these reasons anticholinergics should not be used as a routine part of the anesthetic regimen, since many critically ill patients can not tolerate increases in myocardial oxygen consumption or alterations of cardiac rhythm. Anticholinergics are indicated for specific situations. For example, animals with high resting vagal tone, or high vagal tone resulting from narcotic or alpha-2 administration, those with excessive upper airway secretions, or in those animals in which cardiac output is dependent on maintenance of a normal heart rate. This includes neonates or individuals with cardiac tamponade.

متن کاملCandidate Gene Polymorphism for IL-Rγ and ChB6 Genes in the Indigenous Chicken of North Western Himalayan State of Himachal Pradesh, India
Present investigation was carried out to identify DNA polymorphism of IL-2Rγ and ChB6 genes. Sixty five birds belonging to the indigenous chicken of Himachal Pradesh were utilized. Good quality DNA samples were subjected to PCR-RFLP analysis using chicken specific primers. Overnight restriction enzyme digestion was carried out at 37°C with IU Hph I and Pvu II for IL-2Rγ and ChB6 genes, respecti...

متن کاملImpact of Bispectral Index Monitoring Versus Clinical Judgment as a Guide for Conduction of Anesthesia on Serum Cortisol Level in Co-ronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
Background: Inadequate depth of anesthesia leads to release of stress hormones. Electroencephalographic monitoring by bispectral index is a guide to asses the depth of anesthesia. The aim of the present study was to measure the serum cortisol levels as an index of stress response in patients who are candidates for coronary artery bypass graft surgery in two groups of patients. Methods: Seventy-...

Today, the treatment of patellar luxations using current techniques has become a very common procedureas part of the surgical treatment. Nevertheless, there are some doubts about such procedures in restraining the patella in lower grade cases. The purpose of the present retrospective clinical study was to determine theefficacy of the soft tissue and bone reconstructive procedures used for vario...
